The need for modernisation

Manufacturing innovation in the cloud

SoftwareOne rebuilt the client’s platform using an event-based architecture in the Microsoft cloud. Using services such as Azure Kubernetes Service and Azure Container Registry enabled the use of microservices for better scalability and customisation of platform functionality.

Most importantly, with Kubernetes, new features can be introduced to the service virtually out-of-the-box, with little or no customisation. This speeds up development time and reduces the risk of errors. By using the infrastructure-as-code approach facilitated by Azure DevOps, all pipeline changes can be tracked and consistent standards can be enforced at scale.

Leveraging cloud advantages for continuous growth

By using SoftwareOne’s application modernisation expertise and Azure services, the manufacturer was able to modernise its existing platform, making it more flexible and reliable. All of their devices can now be connected and managed through an online portal. Users can access it online to monitor their devices, send commands, and set up alerts and notifications.

The modernised IoT platform is fully compatible with existing and new devices. Based on the Azure cloud, the service now processes thousands of events per hour, making it easier to scale and more reliable.
