Contributing to society through community outreach and charitable giving has long been part of the corporate culture and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) program at SoftwareOne and Crayon.

It is one of the many commonalities between the companies, which combined into one organization in July.

For many years, SoftwareOne has had a program called SoftwareOne Gives Back, and Crayon has used Crayon Cares as the umbrella term for its collective charitable activities.

Different names, but the same spirit of making a difference in people’s lives.

"I'm proud that our strategy puts people and purpose at its core,”  said Jon Birger Syvertsen, SoftwareOne’s Chief Strategy and Integration Officer. “By aligning our values with our actions, we create impact that reaches far beyond SoftwareOne, showing how purpose and strategy can work hand in hand to build a better future."

Our combined impact so far in 2025

To emphasize the strategic value and relevance of charitable giving activities, the combined Global ESG Team identifies causes to support that align with the combined organization’s operational footprint and its ESG philosophy. The latter includes practical application of technological services and solutions for the greater good; diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging; hunger, poverty, and emergency relief; and physical and mental health and well-being.

Some of the efforts supported by the team are:

  • Feeding school children in South Africa and Zimbabwe; and families in Italy (Rise Against Hunger Italy).
  • Giving trauma counseling and psychological support to children and families in Ukraine (Voices of Children Foundation).
  • Protecting rainforests to fight the climate crisis (Cool Earth).
  • Assisting children from poor fishing communities in the Philippines through programs focused on environmental protection, participation in sports, academic support, and personal growth and development (Alon and Araw Club).
  • Using technology and map data to develop open-source maps that can be used for disaster management and public health campaigns, with a focus on Latin America and the Caribbean (Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team).

In addition, there are many other local giving-back activities organized by in-country teams in SoftwareOne and Crayon, all reflecting the shared commitment to assisting worthy causes and uplifting the local communities in which we operate.

“We are committed to improving the world in which we work and live, and together we have the potential to make an even bigger impact,” said Crayon VP of ESG Fadzai Munyaradzi. “Every hour, every contribution, every effort shows the real power of collective action, creating lasting impact for people and communities around the world.”
