SoftwareOne case study

As a leading digital marketing agency, LS Digital thrives on delivering high-performance campaigns for its clients. However, as its operations expanded, so did the complexity of its cloud infrastructure. Without a robust and cost-effective disaster recovery (DR) solution in place, LS Digital faced significant risks – potential downtime, data loss, and service disruptions that could impact its business continuity.
Determined to fortify its digital backbone, LS Digital partnered with SoftwareOne (formerly Crayon) and Crescent Technologies to implement a scalable, cost-effective disaster recovery strategy using AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (EDR). The result? A future-proof solution that ensures business continuity, minimal downtime, robust security, and operational resilience.
Challenges
Project summary
LS Digital partnered with SoftwareOne and Crescent Technologies to implement AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (EDR), ensuring real-time data replication and automated failover for seamless recovery. The solution achieved a Recovery Time Objective (RTO) of two hours and a Recovery Point Objective (RPO) of 30 minutes, minimizing downtime and data loss. Security was prioritized with end-to-end encryption, while regular DR drills ensured reliability. Designed for scalability, the solution supports future growth, providing LS Digital with a resilient, cost-effective, and high-availability disaster recovery strategy aligned with its long-term business objectives.
Business benefits

With more than 1,100 employees and a mission to deliver data-driven marketing excellence, LS Digital relies heavily on its AWS infrastructure to manage vast amounts of customer data, run complex analytics, and optimize marketing campaigns. However, the absence of a disaster recovery framework meant that a potential outage could lead to data loss, operational downtime, and revenue loss.
To mitigate these risks, LS Digital needed a cost-effective disaster recovery solution that would provide high availability and minimal recovery time in the event of an outage. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, LS Digital turned to SoftwareOne and Crescent Technologies to design a solution tailored to its growing infrastructure and operational demands.
To ensure resilience and uninterrupted operations, LS Digital deployed AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (EDR), a highly efficient and scalable solution designed to replicate data in real time while automating failover processes. This implementation established a secure and streamlined disaster recovery environment, minimizing the risk of business disruption.
The transformation began with configuring continuous block-level data replication between LS Digital’s primary site in Mumbai and its disaster recovery site in Hyderabad. This setup ensured that data was always up to date and readily available in case of an outage. Additionally, LS Digital automated its failover and failback processes using AWS Systems Manager, allowing for seamless transitions during recovery scenarios.
Security was a top priority in this solution, with end-to-end encryption ensuring data remained protected both in transit and at rest. LS Digital also established secure VPC peering and implemented AWS Route 53 for automated DNS failover, allowing traffic to be redirected instantly during any disruption.
To validate the effectiveness of this solution, regular disaster recovery drills were conducted, ensuring that the organization was always prepared to handle unexpected failures. The solution was designed with scalability in mind, enabling LS Digital to expand its cloud infrastructure seamlessly while maintaining a cost-effective and high-availability disaster recovery strategy.

With its new disaster recovery framework in place, LS Digital significantly strengthened its infrastructure, ensuring that its operations could continue uninterrupted even in the face of potential disruptions. The company achieved an impressive recovery time objective (RTO) of two hours and a recovery point objective (RPO) of just 30 minutes, guaranteeing that downtime and data loss would be kept to a minimum.
Security was another critical benefit of this implementation. The use of advanced encryption techniques ensured that data remained protected at all times, fully complying with industry security and compliance standards. Beyond security, LS Digital’s operational readiness improved dramatically through the introduction of automated failover mechanisms and rigorous DR drills. These regular tests not only validated the solution but also helped the team develop a proactive approach to handling potential threats.
One of the most significant long-term advantages of this solution was its scalability. As LS Digital continues to grow, its disaster recovery architecture is designed to evolve alongside its business, ensuring that future expansion does not come at the cost of resilience. With this comprehensive strategy in place, LS Digital now operates with confidence, knowing that its business continuity is safeguarded against unforeseen disruptions.
LS Digital’s successful DR transformation was made possible through SoftwareOne’s deep expertise in AWS cloud solutions, disaster recovery planning, and cost-optimized strategies. As an AWS Advanced Tier Partner, SoftwareOne brought migration, modernization, and workload optimization expertise to build a resilient DR framework. Its collaborative approach and precise execution enabled LS Digital to achieve high availability, security, and operational efficiency.
