Adobe VIP Marketplace in the SoftwareOne Client Portal: Self service for modern license management

With Adobe VIP Marketplace, Adobe has fundamentally evolved its licensing program. Combined with the SoftwareOne Client Portal, this creates a modern self service approach that gives organizations significantly more flexibility, transparency, and speed when managing their Adobe subscriptions.

This article explains what Adobe VIP Marketplace in the SoftwareOne Client Portal offers today, how you can manage licenses independently, and why the portal goes far beyond basic Adobe license management.

What is Adobe VIP Marketplace – and what role does the SoftwareOne Client Portal play?

Adobe VIP Marketplace is Adobe’s current licensing program for subscriptions. Unlike the former VIP model, it is based on a direct, system level integration between the reseller platform and Adobe.

The SoftwareOne Client Portal serves as the central ordering and management platform. Orders, changes, and adjustments are automatically transmitted to Adobe and are available in the Adobe Admin Console almost in real time.

What are the key benefits?

1. Order Adobe subscriptions at any time – provisioned within minutes

Customers can order Adobe VIP Marketplace subscriptions around the clock directly in the SoftwareOne Client Portal. Licenses are provisioned automatically in the Adobe Admin Console within minutes.

  • No ordering via email
  • No waiting for manual approvals
  • Much faster access for new users
     

2. Automatic renewal with full control

By default, automatic renewal (auto renewal) is enabled in the SoftwareOne Client Portal. This means:

  • No manual renewal required
  • Less administrative effort
  • Planning security for upcoming contract years
If needed, automatic renewal can be deactivated or reactivated at any time – fully in self service.

 

3. Simplified billing

All Adobe VIP Marketplace transactions are consolidated into a weekly invoice. In addition, you receive an Excel overview that transparently lists all included orders and changes.
This significantly reduces the effort required for invoice processing and simplifies internal workflows.
Note: Until February 2026, billing was consolidated on a monthly basis.

Which self service functions are available in detail?

The SoftwareOne Client Portal enables full self management of your Adobe subscriptions – without relying on support or manual processes.

  • Purchase new subscriptions: You can add additional Adobe products at any time, for example Creative Cloud subscriptions or other Adobe offerings.
  • Increase existing subscriptions: If you need additional licenses during the contract term, these can be added immediately.
    Example: An organization is using 10 Acrobat licenses and temporarily needs additional user access. The licenses can be added instantly via the portal
  • Reduce subscriptions: Reductions can also be planned in advance.
    Example: A customer has 10 Adobe Acrobat licenses but only needs 8 in the next contract year. The quantity can be reduced by 2 at any time. On the anniversary date, only 8 licenses will be renewed.
  • Return mistakenly ordered subscriptions: Incorrect orders can be returned within 10 days of purchase.
    Example: A customer has 10 Acrobat Pro licenses and orders 10 additional licenses but only needs 4 more. First, the 4 required Acrobat Pro licenses are ordered. Then, the mistakenly ordered set of 10 licenses can be returned. Partial returns of a single order are not possible.
  • Terminate subscriptions and switch products: If requirements change, subscriptions can be terminated in a controlled manner.
    Example: A customer has ordered 10 Acrobat Standard licenses but needs Acrobat Pro instead. First, the 10 Acrobat Pro licenses are ordered. In the second step, the Acrobat Standard subscription is terminated.
  • Switch your Adobe reseller to SoftwareOne: Using a transfer code generated in the Adobe Admin Console, organizations can switch from their current Adobe VIP Marketplace reseller to SoftwareOne.
  • Activate or deactivate automatic renewal: Automatic renewal can be managed at any time directly in the portal – either for individual subscriptions or for the entire contract.

We have not yet migrated to Adobe VIP Marketplace. What should we do?

If your Adobe VIP contract has not yet been migrated to Adobe VIP Marketplace, please contact us. The former Adobe VIP licensing program has been discontinued by Adobe.
