Construction innovator Vandenbussche chooses MTWO cloud software from SoftwareOne to increase projects efficiency

SoftwareOne (VTX:SWON), a leading global software and cloud solutions provider, today announced that Vandenbussche, a construction company from Aalter, has chosen them as a partner to help deploy a new ERP system and implement cloud software MTWO, an end-to-end-platform for the construction sector. With this solution, Vandenbussche aims to streamline its processes and accelerate the integration of Building Information Modelling (BIM) to make projects more efficient, and optimize financials and planning data. The implementation started in September 2023 and will be completed in early 2025.

Reducing costs through better planning

Vandenbussche focuses primarily on major public projects such as hospitals, schools and sports infrastructure. It also builds apartments and offices. The company operates mainly in the provinces of East and West Flanders, but also has building sites in Flemish Brabant and Hainaut. Vandenbussche is an innovative company and was looking for a modern cloud solution to replace its conventional ERP system. The previous solution was not designed specifically for construction and failed to evolve with the industry’s challenges, i.e., the need to work more sustainably or to reduce costs.

The process began two years ago after Vandenbussche had identified its needs. It was primarily looking for a tool to automate its process flows and connect the company’s different departments. An additional requirement for the solution was integration with BIM. Vandenbussche believes BIM is the future of the construction sector. BIM is a digital model that allows visualisation of construction projects and interconnects various stakeholders.

BIM integration

From a list of candidates, Vandenbussche decided to implement MTWO by SoftwareOne. The solution assists organisations in the AEC industry to automate workflows and promote cooperation. It will help Vandenbussche to considerably limit the amount of manual work and the number of errors. Moreover, the technology offers significant cost-cutting potential. For example, according to figures from SoftwareOne, improved purchase planning during major construction projects can reduce material costs by 30%.
MTWO will also foster the integration of BIM at Vandenbussche. As a modern cloud solution, it will enable different stakeholders during a construction project to work together on the same platform. By the end of 2023, Vandenbussche wants to start all its projects with BIM. Ultimately, the company aims to integrate a wide range of parties – from the contractor and client to subcontractors and suppliers. By doing so, the technology will overcome a lot of bottlenecks.

Kristof Defruyt, CEO at Vandenbussche: “Innovation is in our genes. So among other things, we have decided to manage all our projects in BIM. We carried this vision through to our choice of a new ERP system. We soon realised that the people at SoftwareOne understand our needs and have experience of the construction sector. As a result, our own staff quickly came to trust the cooperation.”

Kevin Richardson, AEC Industry Benelux Country Leader at SoftwareOne: “We felt a strong match with Vandenbussche from day one. The preparatory phase was already done and the vision and commitment at C-level were there. Vandenbussche has chosen to move up a gear. With our system, they can rest assured for the next seven to ten years.”
