Lithuanian Railways (LTG) is a leader in the logistics, cargo, and passenger transportation sectors with 150 years of experience. LTG is known for adopting new technologies, especially for its multicloud-first strategy.

Solution
Starting with the AWS Migration Readiness Assessment was key for LTG to map the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework perspectives to its reality. The following steps resulted in building up the AWS Landing Zone and integrating existing tools and capabilities and where SoftwareOne should focus on enabling and extending them. It became clear the importance of deciding on the proper operating and governance models to adopt.

SoftwareOne applied the proven AWS application migration framework along with the Assessment and Mobilize phases, supported by a sound TCO analysis, using AWS Migration Evaluator and the Portfolio Assessment tools.
Together with AWS, SoftwareOne organized several workshop series on the AWS well-architecting fundamentals, data services, and SAP on AWS. In addition, SoftwareOne provided several proof-of-concept iterations.
SoftwareOne enabled and advised building up the AWS Landing Zone to leverage all the relevant Control Tower service features, implementing the proper Infrastructure-as-Code and deployment pipeline tools. SoftwareOne enabled the existing teams' expertise to take advantage of the AWS-native managed services for operational excellence while also considering and automating the integration requirements to specific monitoring and IT service management tools.
A Security and Compliance framework has been established for multicloud integration to various specialized third-party solutions.
The Business Case
SoftwareOne proved after the initial assessment how secure and compliant the platform can be as well as how AWS itself in partnership with SoftwareOne could benefit and fully support a migration journey. It was then that LTG felt confident and decided to choose SoftwareOne. Their final decision was to migrate the core legacy ERP system to AWS as the cloud platform of choice to modernize it to SAP S/4HANA and BW/4HANA.
Together with SoftwareOne, the SAP solutions supported on AWS were fully evaluated along with several adoption drivers and perspectives: security and compliance, resilience and performance, cost reduction, automation and innovation, and AWS-native services provided features designed explicitly for SAP workloads deployment and operations.
SoftwareOne's ability to provide and coordinate specific skills sets on AWS for architecting, deploying, configuring, migrating, and refactoring will allow LTG to benefit from extending SAP applications on AWS: faster innovation, scalability, and elasticity as well as Lower cost.
