Without a doubt, more organizations have migrated - or are migrating - to the cloud than ever before. This accelerated cloud transformation creates several challenges organizations around the world have to overcome. Companies are dealing with rapidly increasing cloud costs, a lack of cost optimization, and are struggling with security.

Enter: FinOps.

FinOps is an operating model that is designed to increase the business value of the cloud by bringing together technology, business, and finance professionals through a new culture, knowledge set, and technical processes. As everyone turns to the cloud, FinOps is focused on helping organizations better understand cloud costs and make more informed business decisions.

Therefore, we could not be more pleased to announce that SoftwareOne and PyraCloud are now FinOps certified, both as a vendor and as a platform. In addition, we’d also like to announce our partnership with the FinOps Foundation. This is a thrilling journey for our organization, and we are excited to share with you what exactly this means for the future. Keep reading to learn more about these certifications and SoftwareOne’s standing as a newly minted partner of the FinOps Foundation.

SoftwareOne & PyraCloud are now FinOps certified

Here at SoftwareOne, we know that the FinOps operating model represents an ideal field of activities that enable us to support our customers in their cloud and technological transformation. Becoming certified by FinOps opens up a world of possibilities for us and our customers. With these new certifications in hand, SoftwareOne has the unique opportunity to combine our software procurement and lifecycle expertise with our strategic cloud technology topics. As result, we will be able to further guide our customers through all development stages of their individual cloud journeys.

SoftwareOne can be now more specifically referred to as a FinOps Certified Service Provider (FCSP). What are FCSPs, you may ask? They are described by FinOps as vetted service providers that have a deep understanding of how to help enterprises successfully adopt cloud financial management practices. Essentially, SoftwareOne will now be able to offer stronger support, consulting, training, and professional development for organizations beginning their cloud financial management journeys.

Plus, organizations must have at least three FinOps Certified Practitioners (FCOPs) to receive this certification, and several members of the SoftwareOne team are now FCOPs. This means we are ready to back your strategy with a wealth of FinOps knowledge and guidance.

Additionally, PyraCloud is now a FinOps Certified Platform (FCP). FCPs differ from FCSPs in that they are technology providers who offer cloud spend management and governance tools that are designed specifically to help organizations successfully adopt cloud financial management practices. PyraCloud provides unique capabilities to give organizations the transparency, predictability and governance they need for effective cloud financial management. This means we can better help our customers understand fully-loaded costs, enable real-time decision making, benchmark performance, optimize usage and rates, and align plans to their business needs. We are confident we will achieve the best results for our customers in managing both their cloud spend and technology adoption which, in turn, will enable business agility.

Joining the FinOps Foundation

Alongside the certifications, we’d also like to delve into our new partnership with the FinOps Foundation. The FinOps Foundation places a huge emphasis on codifying and promoting cloud financial management best practices and standards. The organization was built to help its members and their respective teams become more confident in their cloud financial management expertise. Also, the newly-founded FinOps Foundation already includes over 2,000 members. These members represent more than 1,200 companies with over $1 Billion in revenue and counting.

By partnering with the FinOps Foundation, there’s a wide variety of benefits and opportunities provided to SoftwareOne that we can’t wait to share with our customers. Some of these include:

  • Discounts for FinOps certifications and training
  • Access to training that can be used to strengthen our employee’s and/or our customer’s knowledge
  • The ability to train our customers to become FinOps Certified Practitioners themselves

The ultimate goal of the FinOps Foundation is to bring together a community that will work to define cloud financial management education and standards. The Foundation aims to advance the omnipresence of cloud financial management across industries. Through continued development, training, events, and certification programs, FinOps plans to ensure every partner is working towards this same goal.

Moving forward

Again, we are extremely pleased to present this partnership and these certifications to you. Working with FinOps will allow us to bring new skills, guidance, and expertise to the table. And as more and more organizations journey to the cloud, we could not be more in tune with the FinOps mission. We’re excited for what’s to come, and we hope you are too.
