Why BitTitan and SoftwareOne are the perfect fit to power your migrations

Today more than ever, businesses must continuously adapt to stay competitive. One such company leading the charge is US-based software vendor BitTitan, a pioneer in cloud migration and managed services automation. With a commitment to innovation and customer success, BitTitan empowers IT service providers and enterprises to seamlessly migrate workloads to the cloud, optimize their IT environments, and enhance operational efficiency.
BitTitan's flagship product has delivered 28 million migrations for 48,000 customers across 188 countries – only five fewer than the number of member states in the United Nations.
It comes as no surprise that this tool was named MigrationWiz.
“Part of the magic of our solution is that it’s primarily SaaS-based,” says Eric Franklin, BitTitan’s Sales Director for the Americas. “For most migrations, you don’t have to download anything to make it work, which typically makes the process easier. Many other tools require you to either download their software or spin up an environment in the cloud, which can be complex to manage and requires a learning curve.
“With BitTitan you don’t have to do any of these things: you get a license, create an account, pick what you want to move, and basically turn it on and let it start running.”
The simplicity of MigrationWiz makes it accessible for the smallest companies, while its end-to-end encryption and zero contact with customer data address the security concerns of larger, hyper-vigilant institutions.
“We have all sizes of businesses that use us,” says Franklin. “You get people that go on our website to buy a single license for $17.50 to move their mailbox over, and we have banks, universities, and large companies that buy 100,000+ when they are making a significant move.”
As the scale of its worldwide sales suggests, BitTitan is a software vendor, not a service provider. “Occasionally we’d give a very brief onboarding to teach somebody how to use the tool,” Franklin explains, “but that’s as far as it goes. We are a SaaS company. We leave the orchestration of large and complex migrations to partners such as SoftwareOne (formerly Crayon) and do not compete against them for the services business.”
The typical migration scenario is a move from Microsoft to Google or vice versa, an operation full of technological pitfalls. MigrationWiz is one of the few tools on the market that can handle a migration between these environments – and with a flexibility that is unmatched. It also helps businesses consolidate Microsoft environments and move from on-prem to cloud.
“For example, we can take you from Google to Microsoft; from on-premises to the cloud, or from the cloud to an on-premises tenant,” says Franklin. “We also handle divestitures more effectively than most tools. While they pick up the entire tenant and then move it, we allow companies to migrate just part of their data estate. So if you sold a part of your business, you could segregate that and only move the data of the part you sold and leave the rest where it was originally.
“Whatever your migration needs and scenario, BitTitan offers a secure and hassle-free solution.”
Demand is driven predominantly by merger and acquisition activity, where a “Microsoft” company has taken over a “Google” business, or the other way around, and IT needs to harmonize. Another recent scenario is one where businesses that use Microsoft on-prem decide to migrate to the cloud to take advantage of Copilot.
“Consolidation is another driver. Here’s a couple of example scenarios: a business sells its West Coast division to a competitor and needs to remove that business unit from its system. Or the business bought a company five years ago, but never got around to properly integrating it, which is not an efficient way to operate.
“We’ve lately seen a lot of colleges and universities that were maintaining multiple tenants: one for staff, one for students, one for alumni, and they decided it made no sense to keep all these separate, because it’s confusing and costing them a lot more money. So they use BitTitan to bring it all together, usually with the help of a partner.”
The relationship with SoftwareOne is part of that effort.
“BitTitan EMEA is a long-standing SoftwareOne partner, but here at BitTitan Americas, the partnership is relatively new,” explains Franklin. “I'm impressed with the caliber of the technology professionals that I’ve met at SoftwareOne. They seem to be very customer-centric, and they are all very knowledgeable about the solutions that they’re representing.
“I think they’ve built a really solid business around providing services and helping people move their businesses between environments. And I think we can play an important role in that solution for SoftwareOne.”
BitTitan and SoftwareOne recently worked on a migration for a large transportation company involved in a merger.
“It was a big project with a lot of moving parts,” Franklin recalls. “There were mailboxes, shared drives, Teams, and SharePoint data, with lots of accounts that needed to be moved. SoftwareOne and BitTitan collaborated to provide our customer with the appropriate number of MigrationWiz licenses required for the migration. In this way, we also helped SoftwareOne in sizing its proposal to be competitive, but with a good margin for SoftwareOne.”
Franklin considers this collaborative interplay a template for future growth. “MigrationWiz is transactable on SoftwareOne’s Cloud-iQ platform, which is great. At a SoftwareOne Sales Kickoff, we had interesting conversations at a leadership level, which is also important.
“For SoftwareOne and BitTitan to fully operationalize this, we aim to be involved earlier in the process – at the point when quotes are being prepared and decisions are being made about what tools to use – because that’s where we add the most value. Together, SoftwareOne and BitTitan bring extensive expertise in scoping migration projects, which are typically much more complex than they first appear. Engaging earlier in the migration process leads to stronger outcomes.
“What I want to focus on with the SoftwareOne Americas team is getting more involved in proposal development and account mapping. When anyone at SoftwareOne hears merger, acquisition, divestiture, cloud migration, Google to Microsoft, Microsoft to Google, Microsoft on-prem to cloud, Microsoft cloud to cloud, and so on, it should be second nature for them to call BitTitan – that is my goal.”
“I know we’ll get there,” Franklin concludes. “We are businesses at the top of our game that want the best for our customers, so together, we will be unstoppable.”
