The challenge
High confidence in systems and data security is essential to trusted professional services delivery. This firm must undergo annual internal security audits that include Vulnerability Assessments (VA) and Penetration Testing (PT). As a trusted partner to its customers, the firm must ensure low-risk network vulnerability and minimal security issues. An independent third party must complete the audits, and results are provided to the firm’s clients.
The solution
The firm selected SoftwareOne for security services including Vulnerability Assessments and Penetration Testing of selected environments for potential exploitation points and security weaknesses. The scan detects and classifies system deficiencies in computers, networks, firewalls, and communications equipment to suggest effective countermeasures.
SoftwareOne consultants used the Nessus Professional remote security tool to scan the environment, including operating systems, network devices, hypervisors, databases, web servers, and critical infrastructure. Alerts were flagged for any vulnerabilities that malicious hackers could use to gain access to network-connected computers. For the firewall penetration testing SoftwareOne used Metasploit Pro which tests defenses by safely simulating attacks on a network to uncover security issues.
SoftwareOne consultants completed the security service and delivered results in just five days. The scan report documented test results including identified issues and appropriate corrective actions to be taken. This engagement provided the firm a one-time service and is being considered for other offices in India.
