SoftwareONE’s Update on the Recent Release of the Microsoft Customer Agreement

As you may have heard from various press and news sites, Microsoft announced last month a new way to purchase Azure directly from Microsoft’s new Modern Commerce platform via a new contract called the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA).

This will take effect as of March 1, 2019 for our customers that have standalone Azure contracts – focused on those with Server and Cloud Enrollment (SCE) contracts.

Microsoft has stated that any existing SCE contracts will be replaced with the MCA. However, we have additional information to share due to the complexity of this announcement.

Below are the facts of the recent announcement with the proposed timeline and some notes from our side.

The Facts

Beginning October 2019, customers will not be able to renew their Azure-only Server and Cloud Enrollment (SCE) or add new Azure services to a current desktop enrollment

Currently, customers who opt for the new Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) will no longer have access to APIs to receive third-party governance, administration, advisory, tag and resource management, and managed security service.
