SoftwareONE recently worked with Gartner to publish its 2nd co-authored newsletter – this time with a focus on Software Asset Management (SAM). The newsletter highlights much of our recent research and information on how we can help organizations master – or shed new light – on their SAM practice.
The roadmap for good software asset management
You may have registered for parts one and two of our three-part webinar series, “Why Does SAM Stumble in the Dark,” and “Get Your Assets Out of the Shadows,” where we helped you understand both the roadmap for effective software asset management and how to have a clear picture of your software estate in order to accelerate digital transformation within your business. These coupled with content from the newsletter provide a solid foundation for getting your software asset management practice off on the right foot.
The newsletter highlights the fact that SAM mistakes typically fall into three specific categories:
- Failure to establish governance
- Failure to articulate an effective business case
- Failure to select an appropriate SAM tool
To learn more be sure to read the full article in the newsletter here.
In addition, Gartner recently put out two new reports – Critical Capabilities for Software Asset Management Tools and the Magic Quadrant for Software Asset Management Tools, both published in April 2018. Both reports are helpful in determining which Software Asset Management (SAM) tool is right for you, with the Magic Quadrant (MQ) report showing how the vendors stack up against one another as a whole, and the Critical Capabilities report demonstrating how the vendor’s tools fare in specific situations and use cases.
It is no surprise – to us at least – that Flexera and Snow came out on top in both reports. As a leader in the SAM Managed Services space, we have worked with both Snow and Flexera for over a decade and host both products through our SAMSimple service offering – helping companies achieve SAM maturity at a faster pace.
