SoftwareONE has set the ambitious goal to prepare young adults for various career paths in IT through the TechTeens initiative, a one-year program for six schools in the Leipzig (Germany) region. During the school year 2018/19, a group of 90 young adults, many from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, are participating in the program. Our vision is to give these students digital access and competence to enable them to participate in the digital world. Each school forms a group of 15 students guided by SoftwareONE mentors. They collaborate weekly in tech development projects where they develop an idea for a technical solution, design and code it. They take charge of the overall project planning, learn to operate a Modern Workplace with the O365 toolkit, plan and implement the marketing strategy and launch of the product.
