A large iron ore mining company, one of the world's largest producers.
The company had embarked on a strategic initiative to transform its operating model. This included reviewing different IT solutions that would best support the new operating model and business processes. One key consideration was to stay on its existing SAP solution or move to S/4HANA.
The potential move to S/4HANA represented a significant investment. Also, there are different options available to make the S/4HANA move. These include a new greenfield implementation or conversion of the existing SAP ECC to S/4HANA. Costs of alternatives differ vastly, reaching an order of magnitude as much as 8-10 X.
More data was needed to support the decision-making process. Leveraging a demo or model company S/4HANA system did not meet the miner’s requirement as its evaluation required a S/4HANA system based on the current SAP solution.
