As an innovative IT company, Heimdal has always used cloud services – both for product development and for the provision and management of its security solutions (e.g. online traffic analysis and machine-learning-powered threat detection). In 2017, the company decided to move from AWS to Microsoft Azure because it needed more managed services. Moreover, Heimdal planned to switch from Google’s G Suite to Microsoft Office 365 as a central platform for efficient internal and external collaboration.

SoftwareONE invited Heimdal to join its ISV partnership program designed to help tech companies successfully build and grow their cloud-based business. This entails both technical and business support, from enabling Azure services and finding the optimal agreement to scaling the solutions, marketing and cosell activities, technical advice and knowledge transfer.

In early 2018, SoftwareONE moved Heimdal’s productive systems to Azure and supported the migration to Microsoft Office 365. SoftwareONE then helped Heimdal optimize the Azure architecture and configuration, e.g. the Content Delivery Network or Traffic Manager settings. Now, SoftwareONE continuously monitors Heimdal’s Azure activities and advises on further optimization potential. If needed, Heimdal has access to SoftwareONE‘s 24/7 MultiVendor HelpDesk. SoftwareONE also assisted Heimdal in publishing its security products on the Microsoft Azure Marketplace AppSource platform for business apps.

By moving to Azure and Office 365, Heimdal was able to increase flexibility and future security, consolidate cloud resources, reduce administration, collaborate more efficiently with branch offices and partners, and decrease costs. By the end of the migration and optimization phase, estimated time savings of 2-3 days per month were achieved. The initial Azure optimization alone reduced consumption costs by 30%. Heimdal can now focus on product development and boost its business with new sales opportunities – both through Microsoft channels and, as a SoftwareONE partner, through access to 50,000+ SoftwareONE customers in nearly 90 countries.
