Windows VDA-to-Companion Subscription License (CSL) Transition4/23/2013A new $0 SKU allows you to transition from Windows VDA to CSL which provides a Windows Pro primary user with similar rights to VDA, but on up to four companion devices, rather than one. The increased instances makes CSL a much more economical way to license, coming in at under 75% of the cost of a VDA license. The CSL was first offered in October to support customers using companion devices whereas the VDA license is more appropriate for licensing Thin Clients. Please see the Product Use Rights (PUR) for restrictions on which devices can be companion devices.
· Since CSL is a new license type, Microsoft is providing customers a process to transition from VDA to CSL if it is a more appropriate licensing method for the devices they are using.
· CSL must be assigned to a device already assigned to VDA or Windows Pro SA.
· The CSL is an Enterprise product but may be bought for a subset of Qualified Devices in an EA (no need to cover all Qualified Devices with the CSL).
Companion Devices are qualified devices. The CSL covers Companion Devices for the Systems commitment under an EA. EAs with CORE/ECAL (user) and O365 do not need to purchase additional licenses for Windows/Office/CALs for Companion Devices covered by the CSL. Any per device commitment for Office Pro Plus or CORE/ECAL (device) will need to be purchased for Companion Devices since they are Qualified Devices.

This release is now live in production, backed by an enterprise SLA, supported by Microsoft Support, and is ready to use for production apps. In addition to supporting all of the features and capabilities included during the preview, this IaaS release also includes great new enhancements, such as:
• New VM Image Templates, including SQL Server, BizTalk Server, and SharePoint images)
• New VM Sizes, including Larger Memory Machines
• New VM Prices – prices for IaaS and PaaS VMs have been reduced up to 33%
ACTION REQUIRED for customers using Windows Azure Classic VM Role
Along with the release of Windows Azure Infrastructure Services into general availability, the Windows Azure Classic VM Role is being retired. Customers need to migrate from VM Role and delete running instances as soon as possible. Instructions to move to the generally available Windows Azure Virtual Machines can be found here
Important dates to note:
• Starting May 15, 2013, calls to create new VM Role deployments will fail.
• By May 31, 2013 all running VM Role instances will be deleted.

As of January 1, 2013, Upgrade Plans and Maintenance for all Creative Suite products were discontinued and are no longer available. Customers who have made an investment in upgrade protection via Upgrade Plan or Maintenance, whose Upgrade Plan or Maintenance is active when the next release of creative software becomes available, will receive access to that software per the terms of their agreement. Per the standard process, communication will be sent to those customers at the time of release with confirmation and instructions on how to access the software.
There are currently no changes to the upgrade and maintenance plans for Adobe Acrobat or any other products.

VMware Announces End of Availability (EoA) of vSphere ESX 4.x12/27/2012VMware recently notified customers of an End of Availability (“EoA”) date for VMware vSphere® ESX hypervisor 4.x and for VMware Management Assistant (“vMA”) versions 1 and 4. The end of availability date is August 15, 2013. This is a follow-on communication to the general announcement made in July 2011 in connection with the launch of vSphere 5.0.
VMware recently notified customers of an End of Availability (“EoA”) date for VMware vSphere® ESX hypervisor 4.x and for VMware Management Assistant (“vMA”) versions 1 and 4. The end of availability date is August 15, 2013. This is a follow-on communication to the general announcement made in July 2011 in connection with the launch of vSphere 5.0.
This notification has NO IMPACT on existing vSphere ESXi 4.x environments. However, it is recommended to make a backup or keep an archived copy of these binaries and generate any necessary license keys in order to maintain or expand a vSphere ESX hypervisor version 4.x or vMA versions 1 and 4 environment. These steps should be completed prior to August 15, 2013. VMware will not provide any binaries or license keys for vSphere ESX hypervisor 4.x or vMA versions 1 and 4 after August 15, 2013.
Please note:
- vSphere ESX hypervisor 4.X and vMA support lifecycle
The end of support life (“EOSL”) date remains May 21, 2014.
- Customer’s ability to use the binaries of vSphere ESX hypervisor 4.x or vMA versions 1 and 4 past August 15, 2013

User CALs will have a +15% price premium. Device CAL pricing will not change.
All Volume Licensing programs* will be affected. Microsoft will apply the user CAL price premium across all user-based CAL products and programs in Volume Licensing and OEM programs.
Differentiated CAL pricing will take effect with the release of the December price list. Subject to current approvals, you may request early renewal to take advantage of lower user CAL pricing prior to December 1, 2012.
You can continue to choose to license CALs per user or per device. You may prefer device CALs if you have fewer devices than users and prefer to count devices. You may prefer user CALs if you have fewer users and prefer to count users.
